The Lone Star Hotel & Restaurant, Barbados
It really says something that the design of The Lone Star Hotel & Restaurant is so impressive that your gaze is torn between its sleek white structure, and the mesmeric beach it’s nestled on.

The Wild Hotel by Interni, Greece
The Wild was our final stop on our honeymoon trip to the Cyclades, and we saved the best for last. The location is breathtaking – set within a natural ampitheatre on a cliffside. As we stepped out of the lobby and peered over the tumbling cliffs at Kalafatis Beach below, it was a real pinch-me moment.

Hotel Las Islas, Colombia
On the tip of the peninsula of Barú, Hotel Las Islas is a sprawling eco-friendly estate. Just a speedboat ride away from historic city, Cartagena, you can reach it easily by zipping around Cartagena Bay. But, there was something about the thatched-roof bungalows, lush tangle of jungle and pure-white sands that made it feel like a million miles away from anywhere.

Senda Watapuy, Colombia
Senda Watapuy’s expansive lobby with its beautiful turquoise tiles and open-air deck was a very welcome sight. After spending two days hiking the remote beaches and jungle of Tayrona National Park, we were ready to relax. As our bags were whisked away, we were shown the sparkling infinity pool just beyond, to the sound of evening cocktails being shaken.

Fairmont Royal Pavilion, Barbados
Sitting on the powdery white sand of this particular stretch of Alleyne’s Bay beach looking out at the warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea is like living a castaway fantasy, but with the comfort and luxury of one of the most beautiful hotels in Barbados seamlessly nestled into the sand right behind you so as not to break the illusion.

Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa, Colombia
Located on the edge of Cartagena’s walled Old Town, the Charleston Santa Teresa is a much-revered landmark and known as ‘the’ place to stay when exploring this colourful city. What was once a 17th-century convent is now a beautifully renovated hotel that’s a mix of historic grandeur and contemporary cool.

Hotel Il Pellicano, Italy
Between Rome and Pisa, Hotel Il Pellicano hides on one of Monte Argentario’s most beautiful coves. Here, it’s all wild beaches and mediterranean pine trees and it’s where wealthy Italians have been escaping for years.

Parilio, Greece
Flicking through Conde Nast’s infamous Gold list, I came across this beautiful new hotel, and I knew that it would make the ultimate honeymoon trip. The stunning white buildings with dramatic archways and sharp edges nestled among the palms looked like the ideal place to just unwind and do nothing – and feel pretty decadent while doing it.

Sandals Halcyon Beach, St Lucia
Even as our airport transfer weaved its way across the island towards Sandals Halcyon Beach, we could already see why St Lucia gets hyped as the most beautiful tropical paradise on the planet.

Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Limassol
As soon as you step into the grand lobby at Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Limassol, you know you can justifiably wonder whether you’re entering the best hotel in Cyprus. And you might well be.
