5 white sand beaches that will make your jaw drop
There’s just something about pristine white sand beaches. It’s like the ultimate symbol of paradise, an immaculate stretch of powdery soft sand fringed on one side by bright tropical green palm trees and on the other gentle turquoise waves crashing onto the shore. White sand beaches so beautiful they will make your jaw drop.
We’ve carefully chosen five of the most stunning beach vacation destinations below which will have just such an effect for you to admire and immediately add to your white sand beaches bucket list – ours is getting pretty long.
It wasn’t easy creating this article, or even narrowing down the regions to pick from and we got lost in white sand beaches in the Caribbean for a good few hours alone. I mean, who wouldn’t?
But finally we managed to narrow down the list to a white sand beach from Southeast Asia (of course), arguably the best white sand beach in the Caribbean (it was some argument), one of the best white sand beaches in the USA, (there are so, so many to choose from), one of the best white sand beaches in the Maldives (we couldn’t leave out the Maldives), and finally one of the best white sand beaches in Africa (possibly the best white sand beach in the world).
You can see the challenge we had. There are some incredible parts of the world that don’t even get an honourable mention this time, and we had to leave off some of our absolute favourite beaches. However, that should give you an indication of how highly we rate the beaches on this list. Enjoy!
Oh, and if you totally disagree, and think we should start over with a bunch of white sand beaches you think rank higher – tag us on social or comment on one of the Wild Bay Co Instagram posts with your recommendations and we’ll happily get lost in another round of, “If you could only go to one more beach for the rest of your life…”

Simply one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet.
Railay Beach
Railay, also known as Rai Leh, is a small peninsula between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang in Thailand, and it’s home to some of the most spectacular white sand beaches in the world.
Gorgeous white sand beach
Railay actually covers three white sand beaches, each with its own distinctive character.
Railay West is the longest, featuring white sand and shallow water. Though Railay West is ideal for sunbathing, do be warned that the southern-end is pretty rocky. Being also the most popular, you’ll find a collection of resorts, restaurants and beach bars serving visitors.
Further north is Ton Sai Bay, a good spot for rock climbing and affordable rooms. Railay West, and Ton Sai, are at there most beautiful at sunset, when those steep cliffs are silhouetted against the sky.
Opposite Railay West is Railay East, which is actually really just part of a bigger mangrove swamp. Though it’s not great for swimming, it’s the best place to catch a beautiful sunrise.
Sitting between Railay West and East is Phranang Beach, named after the cave containing a sacred Buddha image that can be found on this beach. A lot smaller than RailayWest and East, Phranang is the best beach for swimming, with clean, white powdery sand and crystal clear, shallow water.
If you’re searching for the world’s best white sand beaches Railay is most certainly up there.
