Wyndham Grand La Cala Golf Residences has opened in the Andalusian countryside, alongside the fairways of La Cala Golf. Its 30 two- and three-bedroom residences have private gardens and large terraces, while the coast at La Cala de Mijas is about a 12-minute drive away. It’s a setting for a golf break that leaves room for pool afternoons, spa time and trips to the sea.
IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts announced the October 2026 opening as its most high-end development to date. The practical appeal lies in the combination of self-catering space and services: each residence has a kitchen and daily housekeeping, and an onsite concierge can help arrange the days that take you beyond the resort.

Two-storey residences with room to settle in
Each residence spans two floors, with an open-plan layout, floor-to-ceiling windows, a high-spec kitchen, a terrace and a private garden. The majority also have a private pool or hot tub. For friends or families travelling together, the layout offers shared space as well as the option to retreat to separate bedrooms; the kitchen makes a longer stay more flexible.
Daily housekeeping is included. There’s also an infinity pool with a bar at the residences, so a day without a tee time or an excursion needn’t involve getting in the car. A gym and co-working space are planned for 2027, rather than being part of the facilities available at opening.
The concierge can assist before arrival and during a stay with bookings for restaurants and beach clubs, and help arrange excursions and transport. Airport transfers can be arranged by taxi, chauffeured vehicle or minibus for a larger group, while hire cars can be collected at Málaga Airport or delivered to the resort. Private parking is available at the residences, useful if the plan includes days along the coast as well as time on the golf estate.
Three courses on the doorstep
La Cala Golf’s three 18-hole courses give golfers a choice without travelling to another club. Campo Asia runs beside the residences and, in the resort’s description of the course, calls for strategic, accurate play. Campo America’s changing elevations come with views towards the mountains and Mediterranean; Campo Europa’s fairways are wider. A group can plan its rounds around different layouts over the course of a week.
The practice setup includes more than a driving range. Players at La Cala Golf Hub have access to club fitting and professional coaching, as well as putting and chipping areas and a nine-hole par-three Short Course. The Golf Academy offers instruction, giving less experienced players a way into the game while others tackle the full courses.
The resort says its complimentary Golf Concierge can help with tee times, course recommendations and a multi-round itinerary. It also offers access to preferred green fees at selected courses. For a change of setting, the residences’ website places Santana Golf 8km away, Chaparral Golf 11km away and Cabopino Golf 15km away. Santana has relatively level parkland terrain; Chaparral sits among Mediterranean pines; Cabopino’s elevated, pine-lined fairways look towards the sea.
Spa time and dinner at neighbouring La Cala Resort
Guests at the residences can use facilities at neighbouring La Cala Resort, although charges apply to some facilities and experiences. That distinction matters when planning a stay: the residences have their own pool and bar, while the spa, racquet club and several dining venues belong to the wider estate.
La Cala Spa offers a hydrotherapy circuit, massages, facials and body treatments, with glass walls looking out to gardens and trees. La Cala has scheduled a spa closure from 9 to 22 December 2026, inclusive, for maintenance and cleaning; hairdressing and fitness activities are due to continue during that period. For a workout, the Clubhouse gym has cardio and strength equipment, and La Cala Racquet Club offers padel, tennis and squash.
Meals at La Cala Resort can be as casual or leisurely as the day calls for. The Clubhouse Bar & Restaurant overlooks Campo Asia, while La Terraza serves Mediterranean food by the pool, including Spanish-style sharing plates. The Panoramic Bar has cocktails, Spanish wines and light dishes with views over Mijas towards the sea. There’s also El Patio, set around an Andalusian courtyard, and an open-air Steakhouse serving Josper-grilled meat.
IDILIQ’s sister property Wyndham Grand Costa del Sol is another dining option around 20 minutes away by car. Its restaurants include Safari and Grand Italia, which featured in our look at the resort’s festive dining. The drive makes it an outing rather than an alternative to cooking at the residence or eating on the neighbouring estate.
Coast, villages and a day in Ronda
La Cala de Mijas is the nearest seaside town, around 8km from the residences. Its beaches, chiringuitos and coastal boardwalk offer a different pace from the golf courses, with restaurants and bars in town for a meal by the sea. Málaga Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by car; Marbella’s Old Town and Puerto Banús are just over half an hour away.
Mijas Pueblo, around 18km from the residences, offers whitewashed streets and traditional squares. Farther afield, Ronda is about 75km away, with El Tajo gorge, Puente Nuevo and its historic old quarter making a full day out more appealing than a quick detour. The concierge can also arrange excursions including the elevated walkways of Caminito del Rey, countryside buggy trips and an evening combining dinner, Spanish horsemanship and flamenco.
What to know before booking
Seven-night stays start from €2,499, approximately £2,095, according to IDILIQ’s opening announcement. The residences are open for bookings; check availability and the rate for your chosen dates before making plans around the starting price. Golf Concierge assistance is complimentary, while access to facilities and experiences at neighbouring La Cala Resort may carry charges.
The opening follows Wyndham Portocolom’s arrival in Majorca in April 2026. At La Cala, the strongest reason to stay is having three courses close at hand, with the privacy and space of a residence to return to afterwards.
