Wyndham Portocolom opened on 1 April 2026, bringing 110 refurbished studios and apartments to Portocolom on Majorca’s peaceful south-east coast.

Located 150 metres from Cala Marçal beach and the harbour, the family-friendly property is the first Majorca resort in the IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts portfolio. It occupies the former Mallorca Cecilia site, acquired by the group in 2025 and extensively refurbished before reopening under the Wyndham brand.

The resort combines the privacy and flexibility of a self-catering apartment with shared facilities more commonly associated with a full-service hotel. Its location also gives guests easy access to Portocolom’s waterfront restaurants and cafés without placing them in one of Majorca’s busier resort centres.

Apartment-style accommodation near Cala Marçal

Wyndham Portocolom contains modern studios alongside one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, making it suitable for couples, families and larger holiday groups. Every unit has a private balcony and an open-plan living area, while kitchenettes allow guests to prepare meals or keep drinks and snacks close at hand.

The accommodation is fully furnished and includes air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, according to current booking listings. Kitchenettes are equipped with useful appliances, including refrigerators and microwaves, supporting anything from a simple breakfast to an evening meal after the beach.

The apartments offer more space than a conventional hotel room, and guests can choose between preparing meals and eating at the resort. Breakfast and lunch are available within the resort, while Portocolom provides further dining options within walking distance.

The resort is designed as a practical base for independent stays. Separate living areas are useful for longer stays and family holidays, while private balconies provide outdoor space away from the main pool and entertainment areas.

Pool, dining and entertainment at the resort

At the centre of Wyndham Portocolom is an outdoor swimming pool, supported by a gym and multi-use sports court. Guests also have access to a games arcade, cinema room and co-working space, offering alternatives during the hottest part of the day or when work needs to fit around a holiday.

The food and drink offer covers buffet breakfast, a set lunch menu and lighter daytime choices. There is also a cocktail bar with live entertainment, while seafood and sunset drinks form part of the relaxed evening experience promoted by the resort.

The facilities cater to different age groups. Adults can use the gym or co-working area, while the arcade, pool tables, board games and cinema offer indoor entertainment for children and teenagers. A 24-hour reception and bicycle rental are also listed among the available services.

Wyndham Portocolom is presented as a family resort, although travellers booking for 2026 should distinguish its current facilities from those planned for the next development phase. A dedicated Kids Club is scheduled for 2027 rather than included in the initial opening season.

Portocolom and Majorca’s east coast

Portocolom is a harbour town on Majorca’s east coast, with waterfront bars, local restaurants and access to smaller coves around the island’s quieter shoreline. Cala Marçal, the closest beach to the resort, is approximately 150 metres away.

The harbour and town provide a gentler alternative to the larger resorts elsewhere on the island. Guests can spend the morning at the beach before walking into Portocolom for dinner, while the resort team offers local recommendations for restaurants, trails and nearby attractions.

Cala d’Or, known for its marina and sheltered coves, is about 15 minutes away by car. Mondragó Natural Park can also be reached from Portocolom, adding walking routes and protected coastal scenery to a stay centred on the beach.

Golfers have several courses within approximately seven kilometres. These include the 18-hole Vall d’Or Golf, an elevated course with views towards the sea and surrounding countryside.

Palma de Mallorca Airport is roughly 50 minutes to one hour away by car, depending on traffic. Palma itself is around 65 kilometres from Portocolom, making a city visit possible while keeping the resort firmly based on the island’s more peaceful eastern side.

More facilities planned for 2027

A second phase of work is scheduled to expand the resort in 2027. Plans include Balinese beds and a volleyball court, as well as the dedicated Kids Club and a casual takeaway called Flying Pizza.

The additions will expand the resort’s family facilities. For the 2026 season, guests can use the pool, sports court, gym, games areas, cinema and current dining venues, but should not expect the second-phase amenities to be operating yet.

IDILIQ’s first Majorca resort

Wyndham Portocolom extends IDILIQ’s Spanish presence beyond its established properties on the Costa del Sol and Tenerife. The group’s wider portfolio also covers Orlando and Scotland, with most resorts operating under Wyndham or Ramada brands.

“Each property strengthens our continually expanding portfolio, with Wyndham Portocolom marking our debut in Mallorca and Wyndham Grand La Cala Golf Residences elevating the brand into the high-end luxury market,” Simon Jackson, managing director of IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts, said before the 2026 openings.

The second property referenced by Jackson is a separate Costa del Sol development containing 58 two-bedroom and three-bedroom townhouses. Wyndham Portocolom instead focuses on studios and apartments beside Cala Marçal, with units available both as holiday accommodation and branded residences.

Residences at the Majorca development were offered from €198,000, with IDILIQ reporting that 40 per cent had been sold around the time of opening. These purchase prices are separate from the nightly and weekly rates available to holiday guests.

For stays, IDILIQ advertised an opening rate from €720, approximately £625, for seven nights for up to six people. The figure is a starting price and will vary according to apartment type, dates and availability. Reservations and current rates are available through the Wyndham Portocolom website.
