A 14-machine Reformer Pilates studio is due to open at Pennyhill Park in October 2026. The five-star country house hotel and spa in Bagshot, Surrey, says the facility will be the largest of its kind within a UK hotel.
Set within Pennyhill Park’s existing gym, the studio will welcome hotel guests, spa day visitors, spa members and other wellness clients. Classes will cater to first-timers as well as experienced practitioners, with instructors adapting exercises to different ability levels.
The studio adds a boutique fitness format to the country-house hotel’s existing facilities. Pennyhill Park sits within 120 acres of parkland and already has an expansive spa, personal training and a weekly programme of 73 fitness classes.
A 14-machine Reformer Pilates studio
The new Pennyhill Park Reformer Pilates studio will contain 14 machines supplied by Technogym, Exclusive Collection’s long-term fitness partner. Pennyhill Park says this capacity will make the space the UK’s largest hotel-based Reformer studio.
Unlike mat Pilates, the Reformer format uses a sliding carriage with springs, straps and a footbar to create adjustable resistance. Sessions can be modified for different bodies and levels of experience, making the equipment suitable for controlled introductory classes as well as more demanding practice.
Pennyhill Park will focus its sessions on strength and stability, with flexibility work incorporated throughout. The low-impact format complements the hotel’s broader emphasis on movement, recovery and longer-term wellbeing rather than high-intensity exercise alone.
The hotel has yet to publish a precise opening date or class timetable, although its fitness information places the launch in October 2026. Prices and booking arrangements have also not been announced.
SPARCSTUDIO and Technogym shape the new space
Located within the hotel’s five-star gym facilities, the studio has been designed by hospitality and wellness specialist SPARCSTUDIO. The brief calls for a calm but energising environment, with the Reformers in a dedicated studio rather than the main gym.
Technogym will provide the equipment through its existing partnership with Exclusive Collection, the hotel group behind Pennyhill Park. Its machines will give each participant an individual station while allowing instructors to lead a larger group together.
The format is intended to be accessible while retaining the focused character associated with a specialist Pilates studio. Beginners will be able to learn the equipment and fundamental movements, while regular practitioners can continue their training during a hotel stay or spa visit.
Classes will be led by specialist instructors
Pennyhill Park was recruiting freelance instructors in September ahead of the opening. Its recruitment listing calls for recognised industry certification, experience teaching larger groups, knowledge of movement principles and the ability to offer individual guidance.
Instructors will also be expected to modify exercises where required, follow safety standards and maintain the studio equipment. That combination matters in a 14-person class, where participants may range from complete beginners to guests with an established practice.
The studio will broaden access beyond overnight stays. Spa day guests and members are among the intended users, while the reference to wellness clients suggests that Reformer sessions may also form part of more structured programmes at the hotel. Pennyhill Park’s existing fitness and spa facilities
The Reformer studio joins a fitness programme that already extends well beyond a conventional hotel gym. Pennyhill Park offers personal training and 73 scheduled classes each week, spanning studio exercise, tennis, swimming and gym-based functional work.
Its gym contains skill mills, a wall-ball target and a ski-erg, alongside resistance machines, free weights and cardio equipment. Personal trainers can also build individual exercise plans and coach guests through their sessions. Members receive unlimited access to the classes shown on the hotel’s current fitness timetable.
The wider property has 124 bedrooms and a 45,000-square-foot spa, as reported by Boutique Hotelier. Its dining options include the Michelin-starred Latymer, which holds five AA rosettes, alongside the more relaxed Hillfield Restaurant and Bar.
Pennyhill Park has also developed guided programmes around recovery. The new Pilates space complements those facilities. Guests will be able to pair a structured, low-impact class with the hotel’s pools and thermal areas, while members gain a dedicated studio for regular training.
Reformer Pilates continues its rapid UK growth
The opening follows a rapid expansion of Reformer Pilates across the UK. Research from business insurance provider Protectivity found that the number of British Reformer Pilates businesses increased tenfold between 2024 and 2025, according to Boutique Hotelier.
Hotels have responded by adding specialised wellness activities alongside treatment menus and general gym access. Pennyhill Park’s investment places a large-format Reformer studio within a country house resort, allowing guests to maintain an existing routine or try the practice as part of a spa break.
The development also expands Pennyhill Park’s appeal for members who live within reach of Bagshot. A 14-machine studio can accommodate a regular class schedule, although its value to local users will depend on session frequency, membership access and pricing.
Pennyhill Park is part of Exclusive Collection, which also operates properties including South Lodge, Lainston House, Ansty Hall and Royal Berkshire. The Surrey hotel opened in 1972 and was the first property to join the group.
The exact launch date, class schedule and booking details are expected closer to the October opening.
