Chalet Montclair in Méribel: a contemporary ski chalet with a whole floor for wellness

At Chalet Montclair, the double-height living room uses a mirrored wall to carry the mountain view through the space. A bridge and sculptural staircase connect the floors, while darker oak and natural stone take the place of the pale timber often associated with Alpine interiors. It’s a striking plan for a new chalet in Méribel, where pitched roofs and traditional materials are part of the resort’s character.

Consensio Chalets is taking bookings for Montclair’s first season in winter 2026/27. The six-bedroom property, on the Route de la Renarde near Méribel Centre, is still under construction. Its published images are CGI renders, so finishes and layouts may change before guests arrive. For now, the plans offer a look at how a contemporary chalet can fit within one of the Alps’ more recognisable villages.

A modern interior within Méribel’s traditions

Méribel’s architectural identity grew from principles established in the 1930s, favouring buildings that sit within the landscape, with restrained heights, wood, stone and pitched roofs. Montclair keeps that connection outside. Consensio’s construction update credits Gilbert & Associés with the building architecture and Joseph Mills Architects with the interiors.

Architect Joseph Mills told Consensio how the team approached that balance: “We took a timeless approach to classic pitched roofs and used stone and pine externally to respect the local architecture. Larger windows and sculptural volumes introduce light and a contemporary character while still sitting comfortably within the village.”

Inside, the material palette moves towards darker solid oak, natural stone and earth tones. Much of the furniture and joinery has been designed for the property, including sofas created in collaboration with Minotti and built-in wardrobes. The effect in the plans is calmer than an interior filled with decorative Alpine references, though the timber and stone retain a clear connection to the setting.

Space for the mountain views

Montclair spans more than 650 square metres, but its design gives some of that area over to height and openness. The double-height living room, internal bridges and sculptural concrete staircase create views between levels. Large windows are positioned to frame particular mountain outlooks, with views across the valley planned from the principal suites upstairs. The mirrored wall is intended to bring another reflection of the landscape into the main living space.

Mills explained the purpose of the room’s scale: “To create openness and a sense of quiet drama while maximising panoramic mountain views. The fireplace and furniture layout ensure the space remains cosy and inviting, despite its scale.” A fireplace sits at the centre of the living area, alongside a lounge bar. The room leads to a separate dining space, giving a group places to gather without making every meal and evening revolve around one seating arrangement.

Two adjoining kitchens serve different purposes. One is a closed professional kitchen for the chef; the other faces guests, so the cooking space can be part of a more informal meal. Terraces extend the living areas outside. Across the upper floors, six en-suite bedrooms sleep up to 12 guests, including a principal suite and a junior suite. Separate entertainment rooms are planned for adults and children.

A wellness floor below the living spaces

An entire level is dedicated to wellness, with a 10-metre indoor swimming pool, sauna, hammam and private treatment room. It gives guests a place to spend time after skiing without having to leave the chalet, particularly useful for a group whose members may want different amounts of time on the slopes.

Mills described the pool as the focal point of an immersive spa environment, with the sauna, hammam and massage space intended as a contrast to a ski day. Natural light, indoor greenery and the same earth-toned palette are part of the planned scheme. The layout also gives the spa its own level rather than fitting its facilities around the social rooms.

From the chalet to the slopes

Montclair is close to Méribel Centre, though guests should plan for a short walk or drive rather than expect to step straight onto a piste. Rental agency Ski In Luxury estimates a two-minute walk to the blue Doron piste, which leads down to La Chaudanne, the resort’s main lift hub and ski-school meeting area. It places La Chaudanne about five minutes away by car.

Méribel Centre is approximately three minutes away by car or a ten-minute downhill walk, according to the same listing; the walk back is uphill. The chalet’s in-resort chauffeur service offers another option, operating from 08:00 to 23:00 with a 4×4 vehicle. A dedicated boot room with heated warmers should make the start of a ski morning easier for a full group. The listing also specifies an internal lift, garage parking and bedrooms that can be arranged as doubles or twins.

Montclair joins Consensio’s Ultimate Catered Chalets collection. Our earlier selection of luxury ski chalets for winter 2026/27 places it alongside other properties in the operator’s portfolio if you’re comparing destinations or group layouts.

What a stay costs

Montclair is available for exclusive seven-night stays from Sunday to Sunday. Consensio’s announced weekly prices start at €44,900 in low season and €68,000 in mid-season, rising to €139,000 during peak holiday weeks. Bookings are open for winter 2026/27.

The catered arrangement includes a private chef, daily cooked breakfast, canapés, afternoon tea and dinners prepared by the chef on five nights, rather than every night of the stay. A chalet manager, hosts, housekeepers, chauffeur and concierge support complete the team. Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00. Guests need travel insurance suitable for winter sports, including cancellation cover; the booking terms retain the 25% deposit for cancellations more than 70 days before arrival and charge the full booking value within 70 days.
