Oceania Cruises is placing longer voyages at the centre of its forthcoming programme, led by two 180-day world cruises aboard the new Oceania Aurelia in 2028 and 2029.
The luxury cruise line’s extended itineraries range from a 31-day Mediterranean and Atlantic crossing to six-month global journeys. Routes cover more than 600 destinations, giving travellers longer stays in selected ports while removing the need to arrange repeated flights and hotel changes.
The programme reflects a slower approach to luxury travel, with one ship serving as a consistent base between coastal cities, remote islands and inland excursions. Oceania’s adults-only ships combine port-rich itineraries with sea days, onboard enrichment and a focus on dining.
“For today’s luxury traveller, discovering somewhere new is about more than moving from one place to another,” Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, said in the company’s announcement. “Longer voyages give guests the time to experience destinations differently. They can linger a little longer, venture farther and appreciate the character of each place without feeling rushed.”
Oceania Aurelia is designed for extended journeys
Scheduled to debut in late 2027, Oceania Aurelia is a reimagined version of the ship currently sailing as Oceania Nautica. It will have 238 suites and staterooms for fewer than 500 guests, for voyages that may last several months.
Of those accommodations, 179 will be suites. Most suites will exceed 300 square feet, while selected categories will offer as much as 1,000 square feet and dedicated butler service. Residential-style interiors and a private-club atmosphere are intended to make the ship comfortable for long periods at sea.
Dining options will include The Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana, Terrace Café and Waves Grill, alongside an evening pizzeria. A bakery, crêperie and expanded Founders Bar will provide more casual choices throughout the day.
The Chef’s Studio will host culinary workshops, while Artist Loft and the LYNC Digital Center will support creative and technology-based activities. All guests will have unlimited access to the Aquamar Spa Terrace, and the Aurelia Lounge will stage live music, productions and visiting performers.
The ship’s inaugural season begins on 29 November 2027 with a seven-day Mediterranean voyage from Rome to Trieste. It will then operate several European departures and a transatlantic crossing before its first world cruise in January 2028.
The 2028 world cruise travels from Miami to New York
The first 180-day Around the World voyage departs Miami on 18 January 2028 and finishes in New York. Guests will also be invited to attend Oceania Aurelia’s christening in Miami before departure.
After Mexico and Central America, the ship will pass through the Panama Canal and continue towards Hawaii, French Polynesia and the wider South Pacific. Australia follows, including an overnight stay in Sydney, before the route moves through Southeast Asia and spends almost two weeks along Japan’s coastline.
Later stages take in India, the Arabian Peninsula and the Mediterranean, with calls across Greece, Italy, the French Riviera, Spain and Portugal before the final Atlantic crossing.
Overnight stays are planned in Papeete, Bora Bora, Sydney, Bali, Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai, Seville and Bordeaux. Selected overland programmes will allow guests to leave the ship for inland visits to Machu Picchu, Petra and the Taj Mahal.
The 2029 sailing visits 39 countries
Oceania’s 2029 world cruise leaves Los Angeles on 6 January 2029 and reaches New York 180 days later. The published itinerary covers 39 countries and 96 ports, with more than 110 UNESCO World Heritage sites along or near the route.
The voyage begins with visits to Central America, Ecuador, Peru and Chile along the Americas’ Pacific shoreline. It then crosses the South Pacific via Easter Island and French Polynesia before reaching New Zealand and Australia.
From there, Oceania Aurelia will sail through Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and India, followed by the Arabian Peninsula. Its European section includes ports in Greece, Croatia, Italy, Spain and France, with further calls around the British Isles before the crossing to New York.
Included in the 2029 fare are a one-night pre-cruise hotel stay, hotel-to-ship transfers, unlimited laundry and onboard medical consultations. Guests also receive US$1,000 in shipboard credit per stateroom and may choose unlimited wine and beer or shore-excursion credit of up to US$9,000.
Travellers booked on either world cruise are given Gold-level Oceania Club status automatically. Returning guests move to Platinum level or above, with benefits available from embarkation.
Extended voyages start at 31 days
Travellers unable to commit to six months can choose from several shorter Grand Voyages and extended sailings:
- Epic Reefs to Icy Glaciers sails for 68 days from Sydney to Vancouver aboard Oceania Riviera, departing 7 March 2027. The route links Australia, Southeast Asia, Japan and Alaska, with access to the Great Barrier Reef, Komodo Island and Hubbard Glacier.
- Asia to Alaska Majesty is a 39-day Oceania Riviera voyage from Singapore to Vancouver, departing 5 April 2027. Calls include the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan before the ship continues to Alaska.
- Springing Into Summer travels from Trieste to London over 66 days aboard Oceania Marina, departing 17 April 2027. Its route combines the Adriatic and Mediterranean with Spain, France and Northern Europe.
- Holiday Crossing departs Athens on 18 December 2027 for a 31-day journey to Miami aboard Oceania Aurelia. It follows the Mediterranean coasts of Italy, France and Spain before visiting the Canary Islands and San Juan.
- Grand Nordic & Baltic Discovery is a 78-day voyage from New York to Boston, departing 18 July 2028 aboard Oceania Aurelia. It visits Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, the British Isles, Norway and the Baltic region.
- Grand South America Adventure sails for 71 days from Miami to Los Angeles, departing 27 October 2028. The itinerary includes Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Across its sailings, Oceania’s Your World Included programme covers gourmet dining, gratuities and unlimited Wi-Fi. Guests may also choose shore-excursion credit or wine and beer by the glass with lunch and dinner.
