The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open will celebrate its 10th edition at Mont Choisy Le Golf from 10 to 13 December 2026, bringing DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour players to the island’s north-west coast.
Defending champion Jayden Schaper will return after securing the 2025 title in a dramatic play-off. The 2026 tournament has a prize purse of USD 1.5 million, while Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels has been named as the official hotel partner for players, officials and travelling spectators.
For visitors, the tournament combines four days of professional golf with warm Indian Ocean weather. Beachcomber has four dedicated golf resorts across Mauritius, connecting championship courses with beachfront suites, spas and extensive sporting facilities.
The 2026 Mauritius Open at Mont Choisy Le Golf
Located on a former sugar-cane estate in northern Mauritius, Mont Choisy Le Golf is an 18-hole championship course designed by South African architect Peter Matkovich. It will host the Mauritius Open for the third time in 2026.
The layout runs through a landscape shaped by volcanic rock formations, water hazards, clipped greens and broad fairways. It is also the only 18-hole championship course in the north of the island, giving this year’s event a different setting from the 2025 competition at Heritage La Réserve Golf Links in the south-west.
The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open was first played in 2015, when it became the first tournament endorsed by the Sunshine, European and Asian Tours. The European Tour has since become the DP World Tour, and the current event is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour.
Schaper arrives as defending champion after beating Ryan Gerard on the second play-off hole in December 2025. The South African began the final round two shots behind before recording a bogey-free 64, with an eagle and six birdies taking him to 22 under par.
Gerard matched that score with a birdie on the 18th, but Schaper made an eagle during the play-off to claim his second DP World Tour victory in successive weeks. Speaking about the destination on the tournament’s official website, Schaper said: “I just love Mauritius. I love the resorts, the ocean, the golf courses.”
Tickets and facilities at Mont Choisy
General admission starts at Rs 900 for Thursday or Friday, rising to Rs 1,400 for either championship day at the weekend. A pass covering all four days costs Rs 2,600.
VIP hospitality, including food and drink, starts at Rs 12,000 on Thursday or Friday. Saturday and Sunday access costs Rs 17,000 per day, while a full-week hospitality pass is listed at Rs 45,000. Prices are published by the tournament and may be subject to availability.
Outside tournament week, Mont Choisy has practice areas, a clubhouse restaurant, a pro shop and equipment rental. Its academy offers individual and group tuition for beginners and established golfers, with PGA professionals using FlightScope and video analysis during lessons.
Beachcomber guests receive privileged access to Mont Choisy through the hotel group’s golf programme. The tournament website says its official hotel accommodation is five minutes from the first tee, making it practical for spectators who want to stay close to the action.
Paradis Beachcomber for golf beside Le Morne
Set on the Le Morne Peninsula in south-west Mauritius, Paradis Beachcomber places its 18-hole, par-72 championship course between a sheltered lagoon and Le Morne Brabant.
The 5,924-metre Paradis Golf Club begins close to the beach before moving towards the mountain. Its final nine holes follow the coastline, with five water hazards adding a technical challenge to the oceanfront setting.
A resident Golf Academy provides private lessons for newcomers and experienced players. Golfers can also use the clubhouse bar or arrange access to Mont Choisy Le Golf, allowing a longer stay to include courses on opposite sides of the island.
Away from the fairways, Paradis has 13 private villas and access to eight restaurants, four of which are at neighbouring Dinarobin Beachcomber. A spa, children’s club and complimentary land and water sports are also available.
Rates supplied by Beachcomber start from £362 per night for two adults sharing on a half-board basis. Paradis is the most convenient option for travellers who want to walk directly from their resort to a championship course.
Dinarobin Beachcomber for an active family stay
At the foot of Le Morne Brabant, Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa is a five-star suite and villa retreat with privileged access to both Paradis Golf Club and Mont Choisy Le Golf.
The resort has five swimming pools, a Beachcomber spa and an adults-only area with a private pool. Guests can also use facilities and restaurants at Paradis without moving between hotels.
Families have access to a children’s club for ages three to 11, while the activity programme covers tennis and several water sports. The on-site kitesurfing school is affiliated with the International Kiteboarding Organization and the French Kite Association, which also supports active stays beyond golf.
Starting rates are £366 per night for two adults sharing on a half-board basis. Dinarobin suits travellers seeking a quieter base beneath Le Morne, with easy access to the neighbouring course and resort facilities.
Trou aux Biches Beachcomber after its 2026 renovation
Located on Mauritius’ north-west coast, Trou aux Biches Beachcomber is due to reopen on 15 October 2026 following a four-month refurbishment of its rooms and public spaces.
Its position makes it a convenient option for the Mauritius Open at Mont Choisy. Beachcomber offers a complimentary shuttle to the course, where a green-fee package with a golf cart is available. Guests also receive privileged access to Paradis Golf Club.
The resort occupies a 35-hectare tropical garden beside nearly two kilometres of beach and a calm lagoon. Accommodation includes seafront suites with private pools alongside 27 villas with two or three bedrooms, giving couples and larger families flexible options.
Six restaurants, a Beachcomber spa and complimentary sports complete the resort offering. Separate children’s and teens’ clubs cater for guests aged three to 17, which helps parents combine time on the course with a family beach holiday.
Rates start from £338 per night for two adults sharing on a half-board basis. As the lowest starting price among the three featured Beachcomber stays, Trou aux Biches combines renovated accommodation with access to the tournament venue.
Canonnier Beachcomber in northern Mauritius
Canonnier Beachcomber is the fourth property in the group’s collection of dedicated golf resorts. Beachcomber includes it within its wider golf programme, which gives hotel residents privileged access to Mont Choisy Le Golf.
Although current accommodation rates were not included in the tournament announcement, its northern location makes it another option for visitors prioritising the 2026 competition. Travellers should confirm transfers, tee times and golf-package inclusions directly with Beachcomber before booking.
Planning a Mauritius golf holiday in December
Tournament visitors can book individual day tickets or a four-day pass, depending on how much of the competition they want to follow. Thursday and Friday generally offer the most affordable access, while the weekend covers the final championship rounds.
Golfers planning to play should reserve tee times separately from tournament tickets. Beachcomber promotes unlimited rounds through selected golf experiences, but access, transfers and cart arrangements depend on the resort and package chosen.
