Grenada is preparing for its biggest luxury hotel opening of 2026, with InterContinental Grenada-La Sagesse expected to welcome guests in November beside one of the island’s most peaceful bays.
The 120-room resort will strengthen Grenada’s appeal for travellers seeking quiet luxury rooted in nature, food and local culture. Its arrival follows the 2024 opening of Six Senses La Sagesse, while Spicemas brings Grenadian music and masquerade to St George’s in August 2026.
The completed upgrade at Maurice Bishop International Airport will also improve access for visitors in late 2026 and 2027. The best things to do in Grenada now extend from underwater art and waterfall swimming to spice-based wellness rituals, cocoa experiences and carnival celebrations.
InterContinental Grenada-La Sagesse opens in November 2026
Set on La Sagesse Bay in St David parish, InterContinental Grenada-La Sagesse is scheduled to open in November 2026 with rooms and suites facing the resort or sea. IHG currently describes the opening as autumn 2026, so travellers should check the confirmed launch date before booking flights.
The new resort will have five dining concepts, a spa, Pilates reformers, a swimming pool and a beach club. Water sports, island excursions and cultural programming are also planned beyond the shoreline.
Dining will range from locally sourced Caribbean cooking at Mosaic to Mediterranean dishes at open-air Coralie. Solara, the rooftop bar, is planned for cocktails and small plates, while Cove will serve lighter food beside the pool and spa.
More than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space will accommodate weddings, executive retreats and larger celebrations. Dedicated kosher facilities and customised resort buyouts will also suit private groups.
General manager George Vlachopoulos said the property is being developed around “a sophisticated, yet relaxed sense of luxury rooted in thoughtful service and meaningful connection” in the announcement of the November opening.
The InterContinental will sit beside Six Senses La Sagesse, creating a new luxury base on Grenada’s quieter southeastern coast. Travellers visiting in 2027 should find both resorts fully established, with a broad choice of restaurants, wellness programmes and coastal activities within the bay.
Spicemas fills St George’s with music and masquerade
For a contrast to La Sagesse’s calm shoreline, Grenada’s Spicemas Carnival reaches its main celebrations from 2 to 11 August 2026. The national programme includes traditional masquerade, steel-pan competition, calypso performances and large street parties.
