Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica has opened reservations for 10 new Papagayo Suites, with the first stays available from 17 December 2026.
The one-bedroom suites are the first completed accommodation element in a wider enhancement programme at the Pacific coast resort. Each measures 112 square metres, or 1,206 square feet, and combines residential-style interiors with an expansive terrace overlooking Papagayo Bay.
Available to reserve through Four Seasons, the suites are designed for travellers seeking more space and privacy without losing convenient access to the resort’s restaurants, wellness facilities and recreational experiences.
Inside the new Papagayo Suites
Set in the heart of the resort on Peninsula Papagayo, the new suites use indoor-outdoor design to connect their living spaces with the tropical surroundings. Natural light and fresh air enter through wide openings, while the terraces offer private space for taking in the bay views.
Each suite has a king bedroom and an inviting living area, plus bespoke furnishings intended to give the accommodation the atmosphere of a private holiday home. Natural wood and stone are softened by tactile fabrics, with sculptural lighting adding definition throughout the interiors.
The colour palette draws directly from the Guanacaste setting, using shades of sand and papaya alongside pale blue and soft green. These warm, muted tones reinforce the suites’ residential approach.
Marble bathrooms include curved soaking tubs and finishes selected to reflect materials found across the surrounding peninsula. The combination of open space, natural textures and custom pieces gives the rooms a relaxed character.
“The new Papagayo Suites represent our continued investment in creating exceptional experiences for guests seeking the very best of Costa Rica,” general manager Brent Martin said in the suite announcement. “These beautifully designed accommodations offer a seamless connection to the destination while providing the comfort and privacy that our guests value most.”
According to The Tico Times, occupancy in each Papagayo Suite can reach three adults, while the alternative arrangement is two adults and two children. That capacity, together with the separate living space and large terrace, makes the new category suitable for couples wanting extra room as well as smaller families.
A wider transformation across Four Seasons Costa Rica
The Papagayo Suites form part of a broader programme scheduled to appear across the resort in late 2026. The work extends from guest accommodation to the signature restaurant and redesigned gathering spaces, with Costa Rica’s biodiversity informing materials and decorative details.
Existing guest rooms will receive a lighter refresh focused on soft furnishings and a more residential atmosphere. The three-bedroom Miramar Presidential Suite is undergoing a more extensive redesign, turning it into an indoor-outdoor private residence with custom millwork, tropical detailing and expansive terraces.
The reimagined presidential suite will also have its own pool and outdoor areas created for entertaining. Its nature-led materials and warm colour scheme are intended to establish continuity between the interiors and the greenery surrounding the property.
Four Seasons first outlined the enhancement programme in July. Martin said the changes would evolve how guests relax and dine, as well as how they gather at the resort.
The improvements are being introduced around a planned temporary closure. The Tico Times reported that the resort is expected to close from 1 to 30 September 2026 while work is completed, before reopening on 1 October. The Papagayo Suites will begin receiving guests later, from 17 December.
Nemare draws on Guanacaste’s cowboy culture
Nemare, the resort’s Latin American steakhouse, is also being transformed into a more immersive dining space shaped by Guanacaste’s sabanero, or cowboy, traditions. Its name comes from a Chorotega word for smoke, reflecting the restaurant’s established focus on cooking over fire.
The redesigned interior will use a deeper palette and natural materials, with curved leather banquettes offering more intimate seating. Outdoor communal tables, an expanded open-air section and a refreshed menu will support both quiet dinners and larger gatherings.
Fire and smoke will remain central to the culinary approach. The changes are intended to make the restaurant feel more connected to its setting while preserving the identity that informs its name and cooking style.
Event spaces inspired by Costa Rican wildlife
The resort’s gathering areas are being redesigned with a contemporary tropical character. The main ballroom covers more than 4,000 square feet, or 375 square metres, giving the property a substantial setting for weddings, celebrations and corporate events.
Wood and stone finishes will be paired with natural textures and sculptural lighting. A stylised plumeria motif will run through the design, while further decorative references will draw on Costa Rica’s plants and wildlife.
These details follow the same approach as the new accommodation, translating the peninsula’s colours and biodiversity into the interiors rather than relying on literal tropical decoration.
Beaches, wellness and adventure on Peninsula Papagayo
Four Seasons Costa Rica is an eco-luxury coastal resort overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with experiences ranging from quiet beach days to guided aerial adventures. The property says it has received the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating for 10 consecutive years.
At Papagayo Park, the peninsula’s recreational centre, guests can use courts for tennis and padel, swim in the lap pool or join activities in the Wellness Shala. Open lawns and a pump track provide additional options for families staying in the new suites.
Palmares Outpost offers a more energetic way to explore the setting. The guided aerial course takes about two hours and incorporates seven ziplines with 21 high-ropes obstacles, including rope bridges, swinging logs, cargo nets and elevated sections reaching around 30 feet.
For a slower day, Virador Beach Club is the resort’s barefoot coastal retreat. Spa programmes can be combined with fitness sessions, nutritional guidance and outdoor activities, while surfing experiences pair time on the water with restorative treatments and local food.
The Wellness Villa at Casa del Mar provides a private option above the Pacific. The residence offers customized nutrition and individual fitness sessions, supported by wellness technology and dedicated spaces for rest.
Four Seasons has also created a suggested four-day itinerary for the resort, incorporating an aerial journey over the Guanacaste coastline, spa time and family activities at Papagayo Park. Guests can adapt the programme around the peninsula’s beaches and land-based experiences.
Nightly prices for the new Papagayo Suites were not included in the announcement. Reservations are open now through the resort for arrivals from 17 December 2026.
