AmanyaraMore than a tropical paradise
Destination: Turks and Caicos, Caribbean
Vacation: Chic luxury
Seeking: Secluded paradise
Highlight: Style & flair
Aman Resorts are known the world over for bringing a certain flair to luxury resorts and hotels and offering something … more. Hidden deep in the West Indies on the islands of Turks and Caicos, Amanyara is no exception.
Basking on the secluded shores of an 18,000-acre nature reserve, Amanyara’s lush tropical pavilions overlook half a mile of white sand and the turquoise waters of North West Point Marine National Park. It is a retreat for all ages, with restorative wellness retreats and endless possibilities for discovery above and below the waves. Without question this is one of the best Turks and Caicos resorts, and one of the best luxury resorts in the Caribbean, you can stay at.
Dovetailing with the dramatic Providenciales scenery, Amanyara’s Pavilions are nestled in coastal vegetation, overlooking ponds or the waters of Northwest Point Marine Reserve. Overhanging eaves shade terraces on three sides of each Pavilion, accessed via floor-to-ceiling glass doors with some opening out onto private pools. The resort’s three to six bedroom Villas offer consummate privacy with rooms set around a black infinity pool, overlooking reflective ponds and gardens or ocean views and serviced by personal chefs and housekeepers.
Amanyara’s cuisine fuses the vibrant flavours of the Caribbean with Asian refinement. At dinner, the Restaurant’s seasonal menu takes centre stage, while in the day time, the Beach Club serves oceanfront lunches and snacks on the sand. Private dining can be arranged from 7am to 10pm, in-Pavilion, on the beach, or anywhere in the resort.
The Turks and Caicos islands themselves sit on an underwater plateau that rises 10,000 feet (3000 m) up from the surrounding ocean floor. In many places, the transition from shallow to deep is quite impressive. Combined with an abundance of vibrant coral and sea life, Scuba Diving Magazine readers voted the Turks and Caicos as having the best diving in the Caribbean.
Without the crowds of Nassau or Montego Bay – the first resort on Providenciales was only built in the 80s – and located 1 hour and 9 minutes from Miami, or 2 hours and 36 minutes from New York City by plane, with direct flights from New York, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Toronto, and London, Turks and Caicos has attracted a magnitude of celebrities to purchase homes, honeymoon and vacation on its islands. Bruce Willis, Donna Karan and Keith Richards own homes in Turks and Caicos, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married on the islands, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker honeymooned here, as did Bruce Willis and Emma Heming, and many more enjoy simply vacationing in this part of the West Indies including, Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, Britney Spears, Madonna, Donatella Versace, Greg Norman, Bill Gates, Hugh Jackman, Michael J Fox, Kristen Stewart, Mel Gibson … and the list goes on.
