Le Syel Spa at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, an elevated wellness retreat overlooking Petite Anse Bay on Mahé, has won an international award for its destination-led design.
The spa was named Best Wellness and Spa Design of the Year at the 2026 SpaChina Wellness & Spa Awards. Announced on 17 September, the award recognises both the physical space and its holistic approach to wellbeing.
Organised by SpaChina Magazine, the annual awards brought together figures from the spa and wellness sectors in China and overseas. This year’s programme covered 44 categories, with recognition awarded to 61 spa hotels, resorts, wellness centres, businesses and professionals from the industry.
Le Syel Spa draws its design from Mahé
Perched above the white sand and turquoise water of Petite Anse Bay, Le Syel Spa draws on the colours, textures and organic shapes of Seychelles in its design. Contemporary interiors frame broad Indian Ocean views, keeping the surrounding landscape present throughout a visit.
The spa forms part of Four Seasons Resort Seychelles in Baie Lazare, on Mahé’s south-west coast. Its hillside position separates it from the beach below and gives the spa a quieter setting.
Dr. Anoop Krishnan, Spa Director at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, said the accolade reflected more than the appearance of the space.
“We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition, which celebrates not only the design of Le Syel Spa, but the philosophy and intention behind the space,” he said. “Our aim is to create a sanctuary where guests can slow down, reconnect and experience wellness in a way that feels deeply personal and connected to the natural beauty of Seychelles. This award is a wonderful recognition of the passion and dedication of our entire Spa team.”
The award applies specifically to Le Syel Spa’s design and overall wellness concept. Individual treatments, fitness facilities and resort activities were not announced as separate award winners.
Treatments connect with Seychellois nature
Le Syel Spa’s treatment philosophy combines local traditions with Ayurvedic principles. Experiences use island ingredients and botanicals, while personalised recommendations are intended to support balance between body and mind.
Named treatments include the Le Syel Signature and Miracle of Coco de Mer. The latter takes inspiration from the coco de mer, the endemic Seychellois palm that produces the world’s largest seed.
The wider Le Syel Spa menu includes massage, botanical body scrubs, wraps and advanced facial therapies. Guests can also arrange salon appointments, private in-villa bath rituals, yoga sessions and meditation. Treatments are also available for guests aged 12 to 17.
Le Syel Spa opens daily from 8am until 9pm. Elsewhere in the resort’s wellness facilities, the fitness centre remains open around the clock, with certified personal trainers available on request. The main and children’s pools open from 8am until 6pm, while the principal swimming pool measures 28 metres.
Premium skincare and natural beauty products are available at the Spa Boutique, together with clothing from local designers. Although the boutique supports the spa’s Seychellois identity, Four Seasons has not said it formed part of the award assessment.
Rooftop and mountain wellness experiences
Several activities take place outside the treatment rooms, using the resort’s setting as part of the experience. Monthly full-moon yoga sessions take place on the spa rooftop, where the elevated position opens towards the sea and night sky.
Mountain Meditation offers a more secluded option for adults. Reached by a 30-minute hike, the guided session takes place at the resort’s granite and quartz summit and can be arranged for an individual or couple. The experience is weather-dependent, making conditions on Mahé part of the planning.
The resort also offers nature-led meditation and complimentary Ayurvedic consultations with Dr. Anoop. During the consultation, guests can learn about their dosha type and receive lifestyle and dietary guidance. Sessions are scheduled for 10.30am on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with at least 24 hours’ notice required.
Le Syel Rituals offer private experiences for two
The spa’s longer Le Syel Rituals combine treatments with private access to some of its outdoor spaces.
Starlit Serenity is a 90-minute evening ritual held on the rooftop. Limited to one guest or one couple each night, it centres on an open-air Shell Serenity Massage beneath the sky. Shells filled with marine minerals and sea kelp are used to provide warmth during the treatment. The published price is EUR 285.
Heavenly Connection is designed as a side-by-side ritual for two people. Organic Seychellois essential oils and local flowers reflect the islands, alongside a facial, marma point massage and body scrub. The 180-minute experience ends with a private bath overlooking the sea and has a published price of EUR 395.
Applicable taxes and a 10 per cent service charge apply to these prices, which may change without notice. Guests requesting in-villa treatments pay a 100 per cent supplement, while appointments outside normal opening hours attract additional charges.
Cancellations or changes require at least four hours’ notice to avoid the full treatment fee. Advance booking is sensible for limited-capacity experiences, especially Starlit Serenity, which accepts only one booking per evening.
Planning a wellness stay at Four Seasons Seychelles
Le Syel Spa forms part of the wider experience at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, with the beach and pools below offering a different setting. Guests can move between formal treatments and outdoor experiences, including rooftop yoga or guided meditation at the mountain summit.
The most distinctive options require some planning. Mountain Meditation depends on the weather, Ayurvedic consultations must be requested at least one day ahead, and the private rooftop ritual has strict nightly capacity. Treatment prices and schedules should be confirmed directly with the spa before arrival.
