Winter 2026–27 brings a new hotel to Courchevel 1850, four Pierre & Vacances residences in Switzerland and a complete refresh for an Avoriaz favourite. Two established family hotels in Méribel and Austria are also returning with slope access, childcare and thoughtful facilities for younger skiers.

The selection covers several styles of Alpine holiday. Saint Roch delivers intimate, design-led luxury, while Le Coucou combines five-star service with a prime Three Valleys position. Moar Gut is built around family travel, and the apartment residences offer more independence at weekly rates that can work well for four guests.

Prices below were supplied in September 2026 and may change according to dates and availability. Nightly hotel prices and weekly apartment rates are based on different board arrangements, so they are not directly comparable.

1. Saint Roch, Courchevel 1850, France

Opening on 18 December 2026, Saint Roch is a new 37-room hotel in Courchevel 1850, positioned just 30 metres from the Bellecôte slope. It will become the fifth French address from family-owned Maisons Pariente and its second property in the Alps.

The central setting provides easy access to the wider Three Valleys ski area, but the hotel’s interiors are designed to feel more like an intimate private home than a conventional resort. Friedmann & Versace has drawn inspiration from Slavic dachas, Mongolian landscapes and ancient Persia, bringing together richly grained wood, stone, velvet, agate, marquetry and bronze. An eclectic art collection adds to the residential mood.

Deep sofas and a fire anchor the main living room, while the top-floor penthouse offers the hotel’s most exclusive accommodation. Elsewhere, guests will find a restaurant and bar, a dedicated Kids Club and a spa with an indoor pool. The spa includes hammam-inspired interiors and Tata Harper treatments for post-skiing relaxation.

The concierge can arrange dogsledding, snowmobiling, mountain dining and helicopter flights. Saint Roch offers a small, design-led Courchevel base with immediate ski access.

Rates start from €1,300 per night, including breakfast.

2. SWISSPEAK Resorts by Pierre & Vacances, Switzerland

The new SWISSPEAK Resorts by Pierre & Vacances collection introduces apartment stays in Zinal, Thyon, Vercorin and Meiringen. Together, the four residences contain 338 apartments and offer an alternative to Switzerland’s most internationally recognised resort names.

Thyon has 77 apartments at an altitude of 1,800 metres, with panoramic views and access to the extensive 4 Vallées ski domain. A restaurant and children’s room make it a practical choice for families who want apartment independence without giving up useful shared facilities.

In the Val d’Anniviers, Zinal places 93 apartments around 300 metres from the slopes. Its wine bar provides an evening social space, while a games area and children’s room support family stays. The village setting suits travellers looking for substantial mountain access in a quieter corner of Valais.

Vercorin has 89 apartments alongside a spa, restaurant, games area and children’s room. Set at 1,300 metres, the village offers groomed slopes, freeride terrain and paragliding. Meiringen, meanwhile, has 79 apartments arranged across six buildings in the Bernese Oberland. Its sauna and bar offer places to relax in the evening, and the residence faces the Sherlock Holmes Museum for an easy cultural diversion.

Weekly prices for four people start from €849 in Vercorin, €869 in Thyon and Zinal, and €1,363 in Meiringen. These residences are best suited to travellers seeking flexible, self-contained accommodation with access to less obvious Swiss ski bases.

3. Residence Capella, Avoriaz, France

Located in Avoriaz’s elevated Crozats district, Residence Capella is a newly renovated four-star Pierre & Vacances property with direct ski-in/ski-out access. Its position at 1,800 metres also places guests within a pedestrianised resort, with lifts connecting the district to the centre and its shops.

The apartments have been completely refurbished with modern interiors and balconies overlooking either the village or the Dents Blanches. Heated ski lockers simplify mornings on the mountain, while improved insulation is intended to make the building more efficient. Pierre & Vacances says the renovation halves the carbon footprint associated with a stay.

An indoor pool is scheduled for completion in December 2026, providing an option for rest days and afternoons after skiing. The combination of apartment space, panoramic views and direct access to the slopes makes Capella suitable for couples as well as families or groups sharing a larger unit.

Avoriaz is also where Pierre & Vacances began in 1967, linking the refurbishment to the company’s Alpine history. Capella suits travellers who value convenience and contemporary interiors in an apartment setting.

Weekly rates start from €1,400 for four people.

4. Le Coucou, Méribel, France

Reopening for winter on 11 December 2026, Le Coucou is a five-star hotel at the foot of the Rond-Point des Pistes in Méribel’s Belvédère area. Its ski-in/ski-out location at 1,600 metres gives guests direct access to the Three Valleys from the ski room.

Pierre Yovanovitch’s interiors reinterpret Alpine design with a refined, contemporary feel. The hotel has 55 rooms and suites, including 39 family suites, alongside two private chalets for guests wanting more space and privacy. Chalet visitors also have access to a private ski room leading directly towards the slopes.

Families are central to the experience, with a Kids Club and an unusually broad choice of connecting accommodation. Equipment preparation and an on-site ski shop reduce the practical work around each day’s skiing. Indoor and outdoor pools provide space to unwind, while the Tata Harper spa provides another place to relax.

Le Coucou is the strongest option here for families seeking traditional hotel service in the heart of Méribel. Its half-board basis also makes dining arrangements straightforward during a busy ski week.

Rates start from €780 per night on a half-board basis. The hotel is scheduled to remain open until 3 April 2027.

5. Moar Gut Family Nature Resort, Großarl, Austria

Set in Austria’s Grossarl Valley, Moar Gut Family Nature Resort is a five-star, family-run retreat created specifically for holidays with children. Its combination of childcare, beginner facilities and access to the Ski amadé network makes it the most family-focused stay in this selection.

The Großarltal–Dorfgastein ski area has around 80 kilometres of groomed pistes for novice and advanced skiers. A private shuttle reaches the main ski area in about five minutes, while younger guests can learn beside the hotel on an exclusive practice slope. The training area includes a magic carpet, rope lift, snow carousel and snowmaking system.

Daily childcare is available for babies from 30 days old, allowing parents to spend time skiing independently. Beyond the pistes, the winter programme includes horse-drawn sleigh rides, cross-country trails beside the resort and tobogganing. An organic farm adjoins the resort, alongside a small-animal area and riding stables.

Moar Gut has 46 family suites and includes gourmet full board alongside professional childcare. Its facilities and services are geared towards parents travelling with babies or young skiers.

Rates start from €600 for a double room and rise to €1,450 for a luxury suite, including full board and childcare.
