West Bay forms the backdrop to the rooftop infinity pool at Kimpton Al Rowda Doha, with Italian dining beside the water and a spa for time away from the city. Inside, desert tones, layered textures and references to Bedouin craft give the newly opened hotel a design closely connected to its Qatari setting.

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the opening on 2 November 2026, introducing Kimpton to Qatar for the first time. The property sits in Bin Mahmoud, with Msheireb Downtown and Souq Waqif minutes away, according to the hotel. Its mix of rooms, suites and serviced residences makes it an option for both a short city break and a longer stay with more space and a kitchen of your own.

The opening follows the conversion of an existing property, announced in February. Doha becomes Kimpton’s second Middle Eastern destination after Riyadh, where the brand opened in September 2025; Dubai and Jeddah are next in its regional plans.

Rooftop swims and time at the spa

The rooftop brings together an infinity pool, views towards West Bay and Sprezzi, the hotel’s Italian restaurant and spritz bar. Having somewhere to eat beside the water gives guests a reason to spend more of the afternoon up here, with poolside meals continuing into evening dining.

Sandscapes Spa and Wellness offers another place to slow down, with opening hours from 9am to 9pm. For travellers balancing sightseeing or work with their usual exercise routine, the fitness centre stays open around the clock, and every guest room has a yoga mat.

Bikes are available for exploring the city, adding an outdoor option to the hotel’s wellness facilities. The pool, spa and gym give a stay several different rhythms: a rooftop swim between outings, a scheduled spa visit, or a workout that fits around an early departure or late return.

Desert tones and room to settle in

Al Rowda takes its name from a fertile oasis where life blooms after rainfall. The hotel’s design draws on Doha’s landscape and heritage through warm, tactile materials and subtle Bedouin craft references, alongside playful details influenced by the modern skyline. IHG describes the intended atmosphere as residential, with generous layouts and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the accommodation.

The 283-key property comprises 223 rooms and suites and 60 serviced residences. Bathrooms have bathtubs and separate showers, plus a dedicated beauty corner. Selected rooms and suites also have private balconies, so that is a detail to check when choosing an accommodation category.

The residences come in one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, with fully equipped kitchens and spacious living areas. Guests retain access to hotel services and a concierge, combining the practical independence of an apartment with the option of room service and help arranging their stay.

Rooms also include tea- and coffee-making facilities, a minibar, complimentary bottled water, bathrobes and slippers. A pillow menu adds a choice beyond the room category, while included Wi-Fi and a workspace are useful for anyone mixing leisure with work. Connecting rooms, cots and rollaway beds are available, with some additional bedding options carrying a fee.

Coffee, poolside Italian food and a steakhouse to come

August Zang Bakery & Coffee serves freshly baked viennoiserie, artisanal breads and speciality coffee. Its Parisian-influenced concept is intended for local visitors as well as hotel guests, making the café part of the property’s wider ambition to attract people who are stopping by without checking in.

The Oat House covers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an open kitchen and flexible menu options. Plant-based, vegan and dairy-free choices are included, giving guests with different dietary preferences an all-day dining option. Its terrace is pet-friendly and has a separate menu for animal companions, a particularly useful detail for anyone travelling with a pet.

Sprezzi takes its inspiration from Naples, serving Italian favourites beside the rooftop pool. The restaurant’s daytime-to-evening service includes spritzes and music, with West Bay views providing the setting. Of the hotel’s dining spaces, this is the one most closely connected to an afternoon by the water and dinner afterwards.

The Surry draws on an Australian neighbourhood pub, with a casual approach to after-work meetings and weekend gatherings. It is also the setting for Kimpton’s daily evening social hour, giving staying guests a regular opportunity to meet over drinks and bites.

The Capital Grille will complete the five-concept dining collection once its renovation is finished. The American steakhouse’s opening date is still to be announced, so anyone booking now should plan around the other four venues. The hotel’s current choice already covers bakery breakfasts, all-day meals, Italian poolside dining and pub-style get-togethers, without needing to rely on the forthcoming addition.

Daily gatherings and fee-free pet stays

Kimpton Kickstart runs in the Living Room from 5.30am to 8.30am, with complimentary morning beverages and light bites. The early start is useful for guests heading out before a leisurely café breakfast, or simply wanting coffee before the rest of the day begins.

Kimpton Social follows at The Surry from 5pm to 6pm, bringing guests together for drinks, bites and conversation. These morning and evening gatherings are established brand rituals; they also feature at Kimpton Quinta da Marinha in Cascais, another hotel conversion that opened this year and shares Doha’s in-room yoga mats and fee-free pet stays.

Pets are welcome free of charge in guest rooms and residences, as well as the lobby. Beds and bowls can be requested, and The Oat House terrace accommodates them at mealtimes. For travellers considering an extended stay, the combination of a serviced residence and a fee-free pet policy is a practical part of the hotel’s appeal.

Planning a stay at Kimpton Al Rowda Doha

Kimpton Al Rowda Doha is on Suhaim Bin Hamad Street, C-Ring Road, in Bin Mahmoud. Check-in starts at 3pm and check-out is at noon, with late check-out available. The minimum check-in age is 18.

Complimentary daily self-parking includes in-and-out privileges. The hotel does not operate an airport shuttle or a local-area shuttle, so guests arriving at Hamad International Airport will need to arrange their transport separately. Accessibility provisions include ramp access to the property, restaurants, bar lounge and leisure facilities, an entrance-side drop-off point and wheelchair availability.

The Sandalwood Ballroom and meeting rooms accommodate weddings, conferences and private events. For individual stays, reservations are available through the hotel’s official website or the IHG One Rewards app, and the property participates in the loyalty programme.
