Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay will launch an open-air cinema beside the sea on Sunday, 13 September 2026.

Running every Sunday and Monday until 9 November, Jimbaran Cinema will transform the resort’s secluded Coconut Grove into an intimate beachfront screening space. Evenings begin with drinks at sunset before a classic film plays beneath the night sky.

The cinema uses a personal audio system. Instead of loudspeakers carrying the soundtrack across Jimbaran Bay, Cinewav technology streams synchronised sound to each guest’s mobile phone. Viewers listen through their own earphones, leaving the waves as the natural background sound.

Tickets cost IDR 500,000++ per person, and both resort guests and visitors from outside the resort can attend. Families can bring children over five.

Sunset drinks before the film

Located directly on the sand within Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Coconut Grove provides a setting for the early evening programme. Guests arrive at 6pm, giving them 90 minutes to settle in and watch the colours change over the bay before the film starts at 7.30pm.

Casual seating is available on bean bags or sun beds, while armchair sofas provide a more structured option along the beachfront. The arrangement is more like a relaxed sunset lounge than a conventional auditorium.

A welcome drink, free-flow soft drinks and juice, along with regular popcorn top-ups, are included with each cinema ticket. Full in-seat service continues during the screening, so guests can order from the additional food and drinks menu without leaving their chosen spot.

The quiet format allows each viewer to control the volume through their own device. It also prevents the film soundtrack from overpowering the sound of the sea or carrying along the beach. Guests will need to bring a charged smartphone and their own compatible earphones.

Cinewav, the technology company behind the system, says its platform keeps audio aligned with large-scale visual events at millisecond level. The same smartphone-based technology has been used for outdoor films, fireworks displays, drone performances and projection mapping.

Sunday favourites and Monday romances

The film programme has been divided between Sunday evenings for groups and Monday screenings for couples. The opening night on 13 September will feature Mamma Mia!, followed by The Notebook on Monday, 14 September.

The currently published schedule includes:

  • Sunday, 13 September: Mamma Mia!
  • Monday, 14 September: The Notebook
  • Sunday, 20 September: The Greatest Showman
  • Monday, 21 September: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
  • Sunday, 27 September: The Devil Wears Prada
  • Monday, 5 October: A Star is Born

Screenings are scheduled to continue until 9 November, although the full programme for the later dates has not yet been published. Guests planning an October or November visit should check the event page for the latest film selection.

Sunday screenings are intended for families and groups of friends, while Monday evenings have been designed with couples and date nights in mind. As individual films may vary in suitability, families should consider the chosen title when booking for younger guests.

Lobster rolls and cinema snacks

Instead of the usual multiplex snack counter, Jimbaran Cinema offers an à la carte menu delivered directly to the seating area. Among the announced savoury offerings are coconut crab nachos, lobster rolls, Korean-style fried chicken and truffle parmesan fries.

A candy shop and ice cream cart bring a more nostalgic element to the evening, while unlimited popcorn remains part of the standard ticket. Guests can combine familiar cinema treats with a full beachfront dinner or keep the experience simple with drinks and snacks.

For celebrations, the resort’s Movie Picnic brings together caviar, popcorn, truffle fries and a lobster roll. Bottles of Dom Pérignon or Billecart-Salmon Rosé can be added for a date night or special occasion.

The menu and service suit both casual snacks and a full meal, with premium picnic options available for special occasions.

Coconut Grove beside Jimbaran Bay

Coconut Grove is a private 593-square-metre events space within the resort, positioned on a secluded section of beachfront with the water only steps away. Four Seasons usually offers it for oceanfront dinners, ceremonies and cocktail receptions.

The venue can accommodate up to 250 people for receptions, although the cinema’s lounge seating and personal audio are intended to create a more intimate atmosphere. Its existing audiovisual facilities allow the screen to sit within the coastal setting without turning the beach into a conventional entertainment venue.

The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay occupies a sheltered stretch of coastline in southern Bali, with private pool villas overlooking gardens or the ocean. Its experiences draw on the surrounding area through Balinese arts, cooking activities and links to Jimbaran’s fishing heritage.

Coconut Grove has also hosted the resort’s Friday Sunset BBQ during 2026. That programme focuses on seafood sourced from local fishermen and cooked over coconut husks, accompanied by cocktails, music and a fire-dancing performance. The cinema gives the same beachfront space a quieter use on Sunday and Monday evenings.

Booking Jimbaran Cinema

Jimbaran Cinema runs from 13 September to 9 November 2026, with arrival from 6pm and films beginning at 7.30pm. Admission is IDR 500,000++ per person, including the sunset welcome drink and popcorn, with selected non-alcoholic drinks also included by the resort.

Advance booking is advisable because guests choose between different seating styles and the event is open beyond the hotel. Visitors should also bring their own smartphone and earphones to receive the Cinewav soundtrack.
