Ansty Hall, a 17th-century country-house hotel outside the Warwickshire village of Ansty, has unveiled seven redesigned bedrooms inspired by Midlands history and craftsmanship.
The opening marks the first stage of bedroom renovations since Exclusive Collection acquired the property from Macdonald Hotels in 2023. It also adds one room to the hotel, bringing its total accommodation to 63 bedrooms.
Created with Russell Sage Studio and Trevillion Interiors, the new bedroom designs draw on historical landowners and Coventry’s industrial heritage. References range from medieval woad dye to the work of Coventry-born turbojet pioneer Sir Frank Whittle.
The design details are expressive without losing sight of the building’s country-house setting. A substantial carved bed and freestanding copper bath feature in one room, while elsewhere guests will find embroidered textiles and a hand-painted cloudscape ceiling.
“We are incredibly proud of the history and innovation that surrounds Ansty Hall and invite our guests to uncover those stories through our spaces,” general manager Steve Ogden said in the renovation announcement. “Our new bedrooms offer a sense of wonder with thoughtful details celebrating local legends and the weaving industry of Ansty, inspiring a truly meaningful and restorative stay.”
Leofric Signature Room brings medieval history inside
The Leofric Signature Room is named after Leofric, Earl of Mercia, an influential figure in 11th-century England and a former landholder of Ansty village. He was married to Lady Godiva, whose story remains closely associated with nearby Coventry.
Russell Sage Studio has shaped the room around a timber bed with carved detailing, fabrics in warm ochre tones, a freestanding copper bath and smaller historical details. The deeper colours and substantial furniture create a more traditional mood than the other refurbished rooms.
This is the most indulgent and expensive of the newly completed bedrooms, with bed-and-breakfast stays starting from £395 per night. It suits guests who want the manor house’s history to remain visible within a polished contemporary stay.
Whittle Signature Room looks to Coventry’s aviation history
The Whittle Signature Room, also designed with Russell Sage Studio, is named for Sir Frank Whittle, an RAF officer born in Coventry who is credited with inventing the first turbojet engine in the world.
A hand-painted cloudscape stretches across the ceiling, giving the room an immediate visual connection to flight. Artwork themed around aviation, technical illustrations and contemporary decorative details develop the theme.
The engineering references give Whittle a cleaner, more modern character than Leofric. Rates for the room begin at £250 per night, including breakfast, making it the more accessible of the two rooms created with Russell Sage Studio.
Woad Signature Room celebrates Coventry’s true blue dye
The Woad Signature Room connects Ansty Hall with the region’s textile history. Its name comes from the plant once cultivated to produce Coventry’s “true blue”, a dye known for its rich colour in medieval England.
Trevillion Interiors has expressed that heritage through fabrics arranged in layers, embroidered elements, custom furnishings and a contemporary scheme led by colour. The room uses texture and pattern to reference the skilled work behind the area’s weaving and dye-making trades.
Bed-and-breakfast rates for Woad start from £310 per night. Woad suits travellers drawn to tactile interiors and a stronger use of colour.
Four further bedrooms continue the textile theme
Trevillion Interiors designed five of the seven refurbished bedrooms, including Woad. The remaining four also take their cues from local craftsmanship and the Midlands textile industry, using contemporary details to connect each space with the hotel’s surroundings.
These rooms extend the accommodation beyond the two historically named designs. The hotel has not published individual names for all four, but they sit within the wider selection of Comfy and Luxe accommodation.
Starting prices across the newly unveiled rooms are:
- Leofric Signature Room from £395 per night, including breakfast
- Woad Signature Room from £310 per night, including breakfast
- Whittle Signature Room from £250 per night, including breakfast
- Luxe Rooms from £250 per night, including breakfast
- Comfy Rooms from £230 per night, including breakfast
Guests can choose between the more theatrical Signature Rooms and quieter interpretations of the local design concept.
The renovation follows Ansty Hall’s ground-floor redesign
In 2023, Ansty Hall became Exclusive Collection’s seventh hotel in a country-house setting and marked its first move into the Midlands. At the time of acquisition, the property had 62 bedrooms, before the latest work increased that number to 63.
A ground-floor refurbishment followed in 2024, also completed in partnership with Russell Sage Studio. That phase set the design direction for the bedrooms, combining the character of the existing building with locally connected design.
The seven completed rooms form only the first bedroom phase. Exclusive Collection plans to continue the restoration programme in 2027, although details of the number of rooms and their individual themes have not been announced.
Ansty Hall’s accommodation is arranged across Weavers, Mansion House and Signature categories. The hotel’s current room collection combines classic country-house elements with contemporary furnishings, with the Signature category reserved for its most distinctive interiors.

Ansty Hall offers dog-friendly accommodation and family rooms, alongside adapted rooms and assistance for travellers with accessibility requirements. Guests should confirm the most suitable room type with the hotel before booking, as the seven redesigned bedrooms have distinct layouts and features.
Check-in begins at 2pm and check-out is by 11am. Luggage storage is available for guests who arrive before their room is ready or want to remain at the property after checking out.
Direct bookings include a full English breakfast, which the hotel values at £50 for two people. Exclusive Collection also advertises a guaranteed best price, a choice of rate plans and access to every available room category when reservations are made through its website.
Among the new rooms, Leofric offers the most traditional country-house experience, while Whittle has the most contemporary feel. Woad provides the clearest link to the textile craft that once shaped Ansty and Coventry.
