Nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, Grantley Hall stands as a beacon of luxury, seamlessly blending historic grandeur with contemporary elegance.
This Grade II* listed Palladian mansion offers discerning travellers an unparalleled experience, combining world class dining, state-of-the-art wellness facilities and opulent accommodations amidst the serene backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales.
It may surprise you that Grantley hall has just 47 rooms and suites considering its size. This allows for the team of over 400 staff throughout the hotel to make every single guest experience as seamless and as memorable as possible. The hotel is the perfect escape for all of us ultra-luxury aficionados!
As you drive up to Grantley Hall, you are immediately struck by the beauty of the manicured landscape and as you arrive at the entrance of the hotel, you are welcomed by the concierge who takes care of your bags and your car as you glide into reception for check in. It quickly becomes apparent that I have entered the dreamiest hotel in Yorkshire and I haven’t even stepped foot in my room yet. Stay
Guests are treated to sumptuous furnishings, Italian marble bathrooms and modern amenities. Features include super king-sized beds, mood lighting and complimentary minibars stocked with soft drinks and snacks.
Staying in a Deluxe room, the average size of this room type is 409ft which is so much space! A range of suites is available for those who really wish to push the boat out, you can take your pick from Junior, Grand, Superior, Presidential and Royal. Catering for all clientele, there are also accessible rooms available upon request. I adore hotel rooms with baths (as I only have a shower at home) and the bathroom was nearly just as big as the bedroom. Not only did I have the minibar to attack, the team showered me with welcome treats of bubbles, sloe gin, chocolate and fresh fruit to enjoy. Fluffy robes and slippers are left for you to wear in your room or to the award-winning spa. Luckily for me, the spa was just a few steps away but walking around in your robe is encouraged.
Despite the grand feels, Grantley Hall isn’t one bit pretentious and every single client is treated as a VIP. Branded Jackets are also available should it get chilly when roaming around the surrounding gardens and walking trails plus, the toiletries are Bvlgari (yes, I brought mine home as a souvenir!). Being in such a rural location, there is next to no noise so you can sleep soundly only waking up to the songs of the birds. I always need a little noise in the evening or mornings, so a bit of tv time is a must for me. The tv sets in the rooms are cleverly concealed behind a painting so not to disrupt the beautiful interior with ugly tech. Honestly, a deluxe room means deluxe EVERYTHING! The attention to detail is something to admire.
Explore
With the hotel situated in Ripon, it’s a great base to go off and explore the nearby wonders of North Yorkshire if you can tear yourself away from the Grantley Hall bubble.
Ripon Cathedral is roughly 6 miles way along with the Quarry moor Nature Reserve. A little closer by, you can visit the UNESCO world heritage site – Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden. If out later around Ripon, they still practice the unique tradition of the horn blower at 9pm each day in the Market Square. If only in the area for a short stay and you want to make the most of your time at the property then the grounds at the hotel are beautifully maintained with lots of space to wander around, sit to watch the ducks swim by in the river or read your book in peace. This is extremely romantic but also totally a comfortable space for any solo traveller, like me!
To me, Grantley Hall is the epitome of refined countryside luxury. With world class dining, stately rooms and a blissful spa, a stay at this hotel immerses you into your very own five-star movie like escape. It was hard to check out after 24 hours of carefully curated magnificence and with all my heart, I know it won’t be long until I venture back (just as many other guests do year upon year).
Relax
Grantley hall offers it all with an award-wining spa called Three Graces, an elite luxury gym and ample outdoor activities on top of everything else. It really is a soul-cation. If you like nature, you are surrounded by it and if you like nature but from the comfort of a hydrotherapy pool, you are in the right place!
Three Graces Spa is a sanctuary of wellness with something for everyone. The spa is regulated by the team so that it is never overcrowded so guests can truly indulge in a few hours of tranquillity. It’s worth mentioning no children are present at Grantley Hall so it really is an adult’s only space for pure relaxation. The Nordic spa Garden is complete with ice baths or if you really want to feel the chill, the Snow room is like something I have never experienced before! For those who like to stay warm, the indoor pool and numerous lounge chairs could be more your style but as I found myself in Yorkshire on the hottest day of the year, I basked in the sun in the outdoor hot tub and pool. It felt as though I was in the South of France. With numerous restaurants and event space on site, the property can also cater for fabulous events and weddings. The most popular events over the years has been Supercar Sunday. Even when It is not Supercar Sunday, you can drool over the cars parked by the valets out front. G wagons, Rolls Royce’s and Porsche’s seem to be the most popular choice of automobile here!

Luxurious treehouse accommodation, moreish comfort food, cosy bar fires and nowhere else to be. Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa, a 5 star Relais & Chateaux hotel bordering the otherworldly New Forest in England, took us off grid for a few days and nestled us among the trees. When people talk about slow living this is now what we think of, and where we yearn to be.

There’s something almost dreamlike about Minos Beach Art Hotel. From the moment we stepped onto the whitewashed pathway leading to our villa, the sea glinting just a few metres away, we knew we’d found the perfect place for our babymoon.
